Industrial transformation drives the growth of BEWG——BEWG debuts at the 2018 China environmental protection industry summit forum 2018-07-14

On July 14th, the “2018 China Environmental Protection Industry Summit Forum” kicks off at the China National Convention Center, which is sponsored by the Commerce Environmental Chamber of Commerce and themed with “Critical Point —— Change and Transformation of Environmental Enterprises in the New Era”. Experts and scholars from politics, enterprises and research gathered to discuss the environmental development and provide suggestions for the healthy and sustainable development of China’s environmental industry. Yu Liguo, the senior vice president of BEWG gave a speech on “fusion” expansion about the transformation of environmental enterprises and participated in the discussions.

Since the 19th National Congress and in the context of green development, economic transformation, upgrading and sustainability, as a pioneer and pillar in the battle for ecological environment management, environmental industry not only embraces a rare opportunity for development but also faces great challenges: government regulation is strengthened, PPP projects are tightened, and “transformation” is confronted; environmental protection and control tends to be integrated, capital costs rise, and higher requirements are placed on the operation capabilities and technical strength of enterprises. To achieve sustainable development, the environmental enterprises must transform according to the changes in internal and external situations.

In the speech, Yu Liguo shared the development and growth strategy for continuous high-speed growth of BEWG in the past ten years under the circumstances of constant changes in internal and external situations. Yu Liguo pointed out that since the establishment of BEWG ten years ago, its total assets have increased from 4.8 billion to 100.4 billion, and it has experienced three stages of development: bidding growth, M&A growth and compound growth. It changed from focusing on the aggregation of external resources and scale expansion to improving management, technology and service capabilities to realize more stable development. Currently, it comes to the stage of common development by building an ecosystem through the extension of the industry chain. Therefore, BEWG has proposed an ecological strategy and dual-platform strategy, which is designed to strengthen ecological cooperation with various enterprises in investment, technology, construction and operation, establish a new business model, build a community of shared future for water environment characterized by pan-centralization and symbiosis, mutualism and regeneration, aggregate their respective advantages, address changing market needs by joint forces of the system, provide better water environment services to the government and the public and make a joint contribution to ecological civilization construction of China and the improvement of global water environment.

In the discussion, Yu Liguo also shared the aggregate M&A experience and management model, as well as the connotation and landing of the “dual platform” strategy — asset management platform, operation management platform. Yu Liguo said that the “dual platform” is the redefinition and reselection of corporate strategic goals and competitive advantages of BEWG, and BEWG will realize the transformation to a light-asset enterprise through the two platforms and realize great-leap-forward development through fusion & fission in ten years.

BEWG is a flagship enterprise subordinate to Beijing Enterprises Group Company Limited, and is specialized in cyclic utilization of water resources and water ecological environment protection. Since 2008, BEWG has given full play to its mixed ownership and developed from a single traditional water company to an integrated water environment service provider to provide comprehensive environmental governance services for the government and society, with the integration of investment, technology, construction, operation and capital operation. Its water treatment scale has increased from less than 1 million tons/day to 40 million tons/day in 2017; with the largest water treatment scale in the world and the world’s top three comprehensive strength, BEWG ranks the first among the “Top Ten Influential Water Companies in China” for 8 consecutive years and is listed in top 500 of Fortune China for three consecutive years.
