We insist on green and low-carbon development to protect the ecological environment on which we live. We give full play to the advantages of our business in environmental protection and continuously optimize and innovate our comprehensive water environment improvement solutions to protect the lucid waters and lush mountains. Meanwhile, we work to reduce the environmental impact of our own operations, promote green management in an all-round way, implement effective energy conservation and emission reduction measures, and encourage our employees to integrate environmental protection concepts into all aspects of daily life, all aiming at building an environment-friendly enterprise.

Well-established environmental management system

BEWG actively performs its environmental responsibilities and strictly abides by all kinds of national and local laws and regulations related to environmental protection, to reduce the impact of its business activities on the environment. The group has established a strict environmental management and product responsibility management system. According to ISO 14002-(2000) Environmental Management Standard and internal requirements, BEWG has also formulated corresponding environment and quality management systems, like the Quality and HSE Management Manual.

We implement full-process environment management and consider reducing negative environmental impacts and maximizing environmental benefits right from the investment, design, and construction stages.

We have a sound operation management system adhering to the red line of up-to-standard emission/discharge and is committed to continuous improvement to realize “energy saving, consumption and pollution reduction, and efficiency improvement” in the whole process.

  • Investment

Environmental impact is a major factor to be considered in the technical evaluation for investment

Immediately veto projects with sub-standard environmental protection management and sus-standard discharge/emission, without considering other factors

  • Design & Build

Take the environmental protection into consideration and optimize the environmental benefits of projects during the design stage

Control the environmental impact of the construction stage

  • Operation

Improve the environment management system for the operation period and conduct periodical project evaluation

    Ensure up-to-standard pollutant discharge/emission

Submit environmental protection data day by day

  • Improvement

Keep identifying environmental risks and make improvements to enhance environmental performance

Dig and well implement energy saving measures to reduce energy consumption

We are committed to tackling the climate change. While complying with emission standards of various regions, we are also working out energy-saving and emission-reduction measures to reduce greenhouse gas emission. In 2018, our total greenhouse gas emission was 996,172 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.

Greenhouse Gas Yield by Business Segments (Unit: Ton CO2 Equivalent)

Business Type Greenhouse Gas Emission
Water 963,732
Environmental sanitation 1,966
Solid waste treatment 964
Overseas business 1 7231
Office 22,279
Total greenhouse gas emission 996,172
1Including only the greenhouse gas emission of our business in Portugal

It is the constant pursuit of BEWG to reduce the consumption of natural resources, save energy and reduce emission. We monitor the data on the use of resources in various business segments, promote technological innovation, adopt new technologies to intelligently manage construction projects, and contribute new ideas of environmental management to sustainable development.

Implementing the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Technology to Reduce Rework and Waste of Raw Materials

In 2018, BEWG actively responded to the national call to promote green design and implement the BIM technology in projects. Through the check of collisions between pipelines and structures of different disciplines via the visualization function and the check of defects and omissions in design to reduce rework and waste of raw materials in construction, the BIM technology can reduce construction cost, improve project quality, and provide guidance for energy saving and green construction.

Implementing technical upgrading of equipment to improve the performance of energy saving and emission reduction

To save energy, various major business regions of BEWG carried out technological upgrading of fans and pumps in operation projects and phased out high-energy consuming equipment. For example, the eastern region has gradually replaced Roots blowers and multi-stage centrifugal blowers with low efficiency and high energy consumption with efficient air suspension blowers and magnetic suspension blowers, increasing the operating efficiency by more than 15%. At the same time, technological upgrading work has been done to make the operation of lifting pumps more economical, more efficient and energy-saving, with the pump efficiency raised by over 10%. The technical upgrading not only brought lower energy consumption but also improved the operation reliability of equipment. As a result, the safe and economical operation of water plants and the stable, up-to-standard treated water quality are ensured, bringing BEWG the trust and praise of local governments.
