BEWG Wins the Bid for PPP Project of the Luwan River Intake Relocation Project for Urban Drinking Water in Guigang City, Guangxi Province 2021-05-08

Recently, the consortium formed by BEWG (leading) and the Municipal Environmental Construction Co., Ltd. Of CREC won the bid for PPP Project of the Luwan River Intake Relocation Project for Urban Drinking Water in Guigang City, Guangxi Province (hereinafter referred to as Luwan River Project), which is an important livelihood project for BEWG and Guigang City to deepen cooperation and facilitate Guigang City to improve the quality of urban functions.

The total investment of Luwan River project is about 900 million yuan, and the main construction works include: newly build water intake pump stations, water delivery project, ancillary projects, water supply pipelines of Yiwu Small Commodity City in Guigang City, etc. with a long-term scale of 700,000 m³/d. Luwan River project will effectively improve the safety and reliability of the urban water supply system in Guigang City, guarantee the safety of urban water supply in Guigang City, and lay a solid foundation for mid- and long-term urban construction water supply in Guigang City.

It is understood that currently, the urban water intake of Luwan River in Guigang City is located about 300 meters upstream of the 2nd Yujiang Bridge, which is the only drinking water intake in the main urban area. To protect the water source, the development and construction of areas around the water intake of the Luwan River and on both sides of the upper reaches are restricted to certain degree, so it is not suitable for the current development requirements of Guigang City. After completion, the project will effectively guarantee the safety of urban water supply, meet the requirements of urban planning, development and construction, and protect the ecological environment of Guigang City.

Guangxi Province is an important channel for inland development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, an important hub connecting Southwest China to the Greater Bay Area, and an important gateway for the organic connection of the “Belt and Road” . In recent years, Guigang City has continued to optimize the business environment, and is committed to creating a first-class business environment in China, as well as a core port city and a strategic emerging industrial city in the Pearl River-Xijiang Economic Belt with domestic and foreign influence. With continuous advancement of the “Belt and Road” construction, the strategic position of Guigang City as an important hub for the interconnection between the Pearl River-Xijiang Economic Belt and the new western land-sea corridor has become increasingly prominent.

Since 2008, the southern region of BEWG has been constantly exploring the Guangxi environmental protection market, and has continuously obtained praise from the government, corporate customers, the media, the public, etc. with its professional and leading technical advantages and service capabilities, as well as professional operation and management capabilities. Currently, the business of BEWG in Guigang City has covered urban water supply, sewage treatment, purified water, sludge disposal, garbage transfer, garbage incineration for power generation, medical waste disposal, municipal infrastructure construction, etc., and an integrated water environmental protection and circular economy industry chain has been basically set up.

As another major breakthrough that BEWG has achieved in Guangxi Province, the Luwan River project is an important achievement of actively implementation of the Group’s dual-platform strategy and facilitation of asset-light transformation by the Southern Region of BEWG, which is also the result of implementation of the “Iron Triangle” mechanism innovation in the Southern Region. BEWG will continue to give full play to its professional and service advantages, jointly write a new chapter for long-term development with the Guigang Municipal People’s Government, and help Guigang City to continuously improve the residents’ quality of life of and city image to create a beautiful and livable Guigang.
