Qingdao University of Technology-BEWG School of Modern Industry Officially Established Being the 6th Initiated by BEWG 2021-12-30
The ceremony was attended by Professor Li Weiguang, Director of the Teaching Steering Committee of Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education, Rotating CEO Yu Liguo, Vice President Yu Liangfa and Director Wang Jianli of BEWG, Deputy Party Secretary and President Tan Xiusen and member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President Wang Zaiquan of Qingdao University of Technology, and representatives of BEWG Headquarters and regions and of relevant departments of Qingdao University of Technology.
At the ceremony, the leaders at the meeting witnessed the signing of the Cooperation Framework Agreement between Qingdao University of Technology-BEWG School of Modern Industry, and unveiled the Qingdao University of Technology-BEWG School of Modern Industry.
Li Weiguang said, “Collaborative education between universities and enterprises has become a significant way of personnel training in China. In essence, the establishment of the school of modern industry is highly compatible with disciplines and industries, which can not only give full play to the forward-looking advantages of enterprise practice in educating people, but also help institutions of higher education keep up with the changes of national industrial policies and market supply and demand, constantly optimize knowledge structure, training programs and improve teaching quality.” It is expected that Qingdao University of Technology-BEWG School of Modern Industry can deepen and expand the connotation and extension of the specialty with a brand-new specialty teaching concept, and cultivate "new engineering" inter-disciplinary talents to meet the needs of specialty development in the new era.
In his speech, Tan Xiusen reviewed the process of cooperation between Qingdao University of Technology and BEWG in the field of integration of production and education. He said, “Qingdao University of Technology attaches great importance to the cooperation of production, education and research between schools and enterprises as an important way to promote its connotative high-quality development and improve the quality of personnel training. The University actively cooperates with BEWG, to explore the innovative and collaborative mode of "specialty + industry". The joint establishment of School of Modern Industry is an important measure for the University to face the whole country based in Shandong and to serve economic and social development. It will strive to take the lead in implementing the building of a national-level integration base of production and education, help Qingdao build a national leading pilot city of integration of production and education, and provide all-round support for policy research and strategic guidance, high-tech research and development transformation, and high-quality talents for the development of ecological environment industry.”
Yu Liguo pointed out, “Under the background of the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, talents are one of the keys to strengthen green and low-carbon development. Therefore, it is particularly important to realize the organic connection between education chain, talent chain, industrial chain and innovation chain through the deep integration of enterprises and universities, and cultivate professional, practical and inter-disciplinary talents.” Yu Liguo focused on the overall layout and overall planning of BEWG School of (Modern) Industry. He said that Qingdao University of Technology-BEWG Modern Industry School would aim to build the "most respected" one in China, to give full play to the scientific research strength and teaching advantages of Qingdao University of Technology, the professional advantages and practical experience of BEWG, build an entity integrating personnel training, industry research, technological innovation and integration of production and city, build a new highland of personnel training platform, and explore a new pattern of integration of production and education.
Professor Bi Xuejun, Dean of Qingdao University of Technology-BEWG School of Modern Industry, introduced the overall construction plan of the School, which focused on establishing the water supply and drainage science and engineering and environmental engineering. By carrying out in-depth cooperation around talent training projects, formulation of training programs, teaching resources, industry training programs, model practice training bases, innovation and entrepreneurship, technology research and development and achievement transformation, and dual-qualified teachers, it would jointly explore a new mode of integration of production and education in running schools and management, and be built into a comprehensive platform integrating production, learning, research, application and innovation.
After the unveiling ceremony, in order to further upgrade and create a demonstration talent training model integrating the functions of talent training, scientific research, technological innovation, enterprise service and student entrepreneurship, the two sides held an exchange meeting on the development and establishment of Qingdao University of Technology-BEWG School of Modern Industry. At the meeting, both sides pointed out, “We should give full play to the leading role of enterprises in the industry, and scientifically position the goal of personnel training by relying on the advantages of college specialties, to build a professional system that closely connects the industrial chain and innovation chain, and effectively enhance the adaptability of talents to high-quality economic development. Moreover, we should give full play to the important main role of enterprises in the process of co-building of the School, promote joint construction, joint management and resource sharing, from school-enterprise alliance to school-enterprise cooperation to school-enterprise agreement, to realize the sustainable and connotative innovation and development of schools of modern industry.”
At the same time, an activity for enterprise experts to visit the campus was held. Wang Li, deputy general manager of BEWG Operation and Management Center, gave a report on the theme of ecological environment innovation and entrepreneurship to interpret the new development and new form of environmental industry for students.
As a firm implementer and pioneer of the integration of enterprises and universities, BEWG actively laid out the school of modern industry. By combining with the needs of national and industrial development, it had successively established schools of industry in cooperation with Hebei University of Environmental Engineering, Changsha Environmental Protection College, Shandong Water Conservancy Vocational College, Guangdong Polytechnic of Environmental Protection Engineering and Yangling Vocational & Technical College, to explore a new talent training mode of integration of enterprises and universities and collaborative education.
