Recently, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Central Ministry of Social Work jointly announced the list of advanced models for "Beautiful China, I am an Actor" in 2024. The Yinchuan First Reclaimed Water Plant under BEWG was awarded the "Top 10 Environmental Protection Facilities Open Units in 2024".

As one of the first pilot cities for recycled water utilization in China, Yinchuan has been given an unprecedented responsibility to build a demonstration city for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. Under the guidance of the national regional coordinated development strategy, BEWG and the Yinchuan Municipal Government jointly built the first garden style reclaimed water plant in Ningxia - Yinchuan No.1 Reclaimed Water Plant, with a treatment capacity of 300000 m ³/d and effluent reaching Class IV surface level, effectively solving the problem of insufficient sewage treatment capacity in Xingqing District, Desheng Commercial and Residential Area, and Yuehai Commercial and Residential Area of Yinchuan City.

The First Reclaimed Water Plant in Yinchuan City combines water treatment with people's livelihood, achieving a layout transformation from "point" to "surface", deeply implementing the "two mountains" concept, and completing the entire sewage treatment process in an underground closed pool through a semi buried design. During the public opening of environmental protection facilities, the exploration focuses on visiting the process flow, visually presenting the modern water plant management mode, showcasing the industry's advanced "BECloud" management information intelligent cloud platform, digital twins, and precise control system, allowing the public to have the right to know and supervise the development status of the industry and the situation of Yinchuan's reclaimed water treatment.

Under the principle of "underground production and above ground greening", the First Reclaimed Water Plant in Yinchuan City has reduced the usage area by nearly 30% compared to traditional sewage treatment plants, reshaped the spatial layout of the region, improved the surrounding ecological environment, and increased the open range to the public by 79%. Another important location for the opening of environmental protection facilities is the above ground space of the water plant, which is a green and ecological water-saving theme park with sports parks, children's playgrounds, and wetland lake areas. It provides various leisure and entertainment places for citizens, further enhancing the environmental awareness and participation of residents.

At the same time, as the "guardian of ecological and environmental protection", Yinchuan First Reclaimed Water Plant has contributed a vivid case of water treatment, water cycle, green and low-carbon to the public, as well as a comprehensive system of party building education, environmental science popularization, and water-saving theme park, becoming a center for public party history learning, environmental protection, and ecological sharing scene experience. Since the opening of each scene in 2022, more than 280 science popularization activities have been carried out, and more than 5000 visitors have been received. The highlight activities and results have been reported by national and local mainstream media platforms such as Learning Power, People's Daily, Xinhuanet, China Water Resources News, and China Environment News for more than 200 times. In 2023, the theme promotion activities of "World Water Day", "China Water Week" and "Water Saving China, You and Me Together" held by the First Reclaimed Water Plant in Yinchuan City were selected as national excellent activities by the National Water Conservation Office.

In recent years, Yinchuan City has insisted on taking the Yellow River water as the lifeline of the city's survival and development, attaches great importance to water security, formulated and implemented water-saving and water control implementation plans, strengthened the control of total and intensity of water resource consumption, coordinated the allocation of various water resources, strengthened the intensive use of conservation, strictly controlled the development of high water consuming industries, and focused on the efficient use of unconventional water from the perspectives of "opening up" and "reducing consumption". It has promoted agricultural water-saving and production increase, industrial water-saving and efficiency increase, and urban water-saving popularization, ensuring the good use of every drop of Yellow River water. The Yinchuan First Reclaimed Water Plant project of BEWG is a vivid practical example.
