Helan County Campus Reporters' Thematic Practice Activity Visits Yinchuan No.1 Reclaimed Water Plant 2025-10-31

On October 31, the Reporters' Communication Station of Helan County No.1 Primary School, in conjunction with Helan County Convergence Media Center, organized a thematic practice activity titled "Decoding the Transformation of Sewage, Jointly Protecting the Source of Life" at Yinchuan No.1 Reclaimed Water Plant.
 
The campus reporters' group successively visited the Environmental Education Exhibition Hall, Effluent Display Room, and Ecological Water Conservation Theme Park, completing an immersive exploration journey of reclaimed water. In the Environmental Education Exhibition Hall, they learned about the water civilization history of the Yellow River Basin through the "Civilization of a Drop of Water" exhibition area and the entire process of sewage turning from turbid to clear via the "Processing of a Drop of Water" section. In the Effluent Display Room, they witnessed clear reclaimed water samples with their own eyes. In the Ecological Water Conservation Theme Park, everyone personally experienced the ecological value of reclaimed water reused for landscape greening.
 
After the visit, the campus reporters attended an environmental education course titled "When Drinking Water, Think of Its Source: A Casual Talk on the Water World" in the lecture hall. Starting with "Water is the Cradle of Civilization," the course systematically explained the close relationship between the world's four major civilizations and rivers through vivid pictures and texts, guiding students to recognize the importance of water resources for the development of human civilization. Combining with Yinchuan's local reality, the course detailed the current situation and challenges of ecological protection in the Yellow River Basin. It also showcased successful cases of water environment governance such as Beijing's Xinfeng River and Luzhou's Yuzixi River, enabling students to deeply understand the important value of comprehensive water environment governance. In the water-saving knowledge popularization session, the lecturer introduced practical water-saving tips for daily life in an interesting way, issued a water-saving initiative, and encouraged everyone to strive to be water-saving experts.
Through the combination of theory and practice, this research activity not only allowed the campus reporters to gain an in-depth understanding of the technological process of sewage treatment but also subtly enhanced their water-saving awareness and environmental protection concepts. The students unanimously stated that they would apply the knowledge learned to daily life and protect precious water resources through practical actions.
 
As an important environmental science popularization and education base in Northwest China, Yinchuan No.1 Reclaimed Water Plant will continue to play its role as an ecological civilization education position in the future. It will constantly innovate forms of public participation, build an environmental protection experience model that is "visible, understandable, and memorable," enabling more young people to gain knowledge and establish concepts through practical experience. This will inject youthful vitality into the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, and jointly safeguard the beautiful home of green mountains and clear waters.
