BEWG Attends the Inaugural Meeting of the Yangtze River Eco-Environmental Protection Industry Alliance and the First Meeting of the First Council 2019-06-07
On June 5, the World Environment Day, the Inaugural Meeting of the Yangtze River Eco-Environmental Protection Industry Alliance and the First Meeting of the First Council was held in Wuhu City, Anhui Province. Representatives from the National Development and Reform Commission, Wuhu Municipal People’s Government and more than 50 alliance units attended the meeting.
The ecological and environmental protection of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is a complex system project. Due to the lack of “concerted” efforts, the persistent and repetitive environmental pollution has been deepened, and the ecosystem is seriously fragmented. The Yangtze River Eco-Environmental Protection Industry Alliance aims to achieve industrial synergy through comprehensive cooperation between upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain to effectively form “concerted” efforts for the protection of the Yangtze River. Meanwhile, it also aims to give full play to the leading and driving role of the member units of the alliance in the protection of the Yangtze River, uphold ecological priority and green development, and integrate the strength and resources of government departments, related enterprises, research institutions and other parties to jointly build the Yangtze River Ecological Community. 。
At the meeting, the Alliance Council was formally established, with the China Three Gorges Corporation serving as the chairman unit, Wang Lin, Deputy Party Secretary, Director and General Manager of the China Three Gorges Corporation serving as the chairman; BEWG serves as the vice chairman unit and Yang Guang, senior vice president of BEWG serves as vice chairman of the Alliance.
Meanwhile, the Alliance has established 6 professional committees, including planning and design, investment operation and maintenance, construction, finance, research, and consulting. Among them, the China Three Gorges Corporation and BEWG are the co-sponsors of the Professional Committee for Investment Operation and Maintenance.
Yang Guang, senior vice president of BEWG, pointed out that the ecological environment protection of the Yangtze River is not only an important practice to promote the construction of ecological civilization, but also an important foundation for realizing the “Five-in-One” overall layout and building a beautiful China. The Yangtze River Protection is a comprehensive and complex system project, which needs a sustainable investment and financing model, as well as early-stage system planning, and later long-term stable operation effects as a solid guarantee and support. After ten years of accumulation, BEWG has rich practical experience in water environment governance.
As the vice chairman unit and the co-sponsor of the Professional Committee for Investment Operation and Maintenance, BEWG will give full play to its professional advantages and contribute BEWG’s “wisdom and strength” to the great cause of the Yangtze River protection based on an efficient governance model, industry-leading technology research & development capabilities, and rich project construction management experience.
Currently, the situation of ecological environment protection of the Yangtze River is severe. To effectively improve the ecology of the Yangtze River and reverse the trend of environmental degradation has become an important deployment for building a beautiful China and promoting the protection of ecological civilization.
