BEWG post-doctoral research station held the first batch of post-doctoral defense meeting 2019-08-16
On 11 Aug 2019, BEWG Post-doctoral Research Station Outbound Post-doctoral Defense Meeting was held at Beijing headquarters. Two doctoral students GAO Fang and MENG Yingying passed the defense and became the first batch of postdoctoral fellows. Prof. LI Junqi, Dean of School of Environmental and Energy Engineering, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture; Researcher LI Yuping, Deputy Director of Environmental Engineering Research Department, Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences; PhD. MAO Jianhua, Water Environment Technical Director of BEWG; PhD. WANG Li, Deputy GM of Operation Management Center of BEWG; PhD. XUE Xiaofei, Deputy Chief Engineer of BEWG Water Environment Research Institute, among other 5 experts, attended the defense meeting.
PhD. GAO Fang, researching on coal-to-gas wastewater, proposed an integrated process route and process package for coal chemical wastewater treatment with MBR as the core, providing technical support for the coal chemical wastewater treatment project of BEG. PhD. MENG Yingying, researching on the rainwater and sewage discharge control system that meets the water quality standards of the Beijing City Sub-center, focuses on hot issues such as sponge cities and CSOs, and researches and builds a combined discharge control system from low-impact development at the source to end-point regulation and storage, which is applied in more than ten BEWG water environment governance projects including Yuhang and Fuzhou. The two post-doctors applied for 9 patents, 2 software copyrights, published 7 academic papers, and co-authored 1 book during their stay at the station.
BEWG Post-doctoral Research Station was created with the approval of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the National Postdoctoral Affairs Management Committee. In Jun 2017, the first batch of 4 postdoctoral fellows joined this station. Over the two years, the station has carried out a lot of R&D activities, increasing technological innovation capabilities, training high-end researchers and developers; the research scope ranges from municipal water affairs, water environment comprehensive governance, industrial water, sea water and fresh water, sanitation and solid waste, and some research outcomes are already applied.
BEWG is always attaching great importance to the cooperation with colleges/universities and research institutes, and through many cooperative platforms, like Tsinghua-BEWG Environmental Industrial Joint Research Institute, NDRC National Engineering Laboratory, Academician Experts Workstation, Postdoctoral Research Station among others, conducting R&D and outcome application in national research projects, major water affairs and water environment projects, and releasing technical resources into ecological and environmental construction projects, with open-minded attitudes.
BEWG Postdoctoral Research Station will follow the long-run core objective of driving the Group’s technology progress and technical development, overcome the difficulties, procure outcome application and hi-new tech incubation, speed up hi-end talents introduction and high-level innovators training, and contribute to the implementation and realization of the Group’s dual platform strategy and innovative strategic objective.
