BEWG-Cambodia signed a memorandum of understanding on water affairs cooperation 2019-08-21
On 20 Aug 2019, at the BEWG’s invitation, H.E. Dr. CHAM Prasidh, Senior Minister, Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts of the Kingdom of Cambodia and State Councilor and his delegation visited BEWG and had a seminar with Mr. ZHOU Min, President of BEWG among other persons, and signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Water Affairs Cooperation.
During the seminar, Mr. ZHOU Min extended a warm welcome to Dr. CHAM Prasidh's visit and briefly introduced the development of BEG and BEWG. Mr. ZHOU Min pointed out that thanks to the in-depth construction of China’s ecological civilization and our own development, BEWG has achieved coverage in many business areas such as water affairs, water environment governance, seawater desalination, photovoltaic power generation, as well as full life cycle service capabilities of investment, technology, construction, and operation. BEWG has the ability and willingness to strengthen communication with Cambodia, provide Cambodia with services in water supply, sewage treatment, seawater desalination, etc., and contribute to the economic and social development of Cambodia.
Dr. CHAM Prasidh introduced Cambodia’s economic development, organizational structure, and water service demand, especially the current situation of the contradiction between the supply and demand of tap water in the process of urbanization in Cambodia, and affirmed the outstanding performance and achievements of BEWG in the water sector. He pointed out that with the development of Cambodia’s economy, water supply and environmental governance have become important issues affecting the development process of Cambodia. BEWG has a business layout of the entire industry chain in the water sector, as well as rich operative experience and successful cases. BEWG is welcome to Cambodia for inspections and exchanges, exploring cooperation opportunities in the fields of urban water supply, sewage treatment, seawater desalination, and photovoltaic power generation.
After the seminar, Dr. CHAM Prasidh, Mr. ZHOU Min, and Mr. CHEN Zuoyi, President of Noble Water (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Water Affairs Cooperation.
According to the memorandum, the Cambodian government invites BEWG to participate in the construction of Cambodian water supply and sewage projects, and through the Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts to provide convenience in information submission, project application, communication and coordination; BEWG will cooperate in-depth with the Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts, give full play to our own advantages to provide high-quality solutions for Cambodia’s water infrastructure construction.
In recent years, BEWG has actively implemented the “Belt and Road” initiative, steadily implemented the “Going Global” strategy, relying on strong capital strength, using leading technology and rich management experience to deploy on the international water market. At present, our overseas business has covered 7 countries including Malaysia, Portugal and Singapore, and our overseas service has covered a total population of nearly 10 million.
This memorandum is the latest move of BEWG to deploy overseas business globally and deepen the Southeast Asian market, which will help promote water cooperation between China and Cambodia, export Chinese wisdom, and enhance China's brand image in the global water environmental market.
Dr. CHAM Prasidh and his delegation also inspected the Beijing 10th Waterworks and the Liangshui River Comprehensive Treatment Project, and listened to relevant BEWG experts’ introduction to the operation of the water plant, smart water and integrated water supply facilities that they are interested in.
