Beijing Municipal Water Affairs Bureau led BEWG and 4 entities to join the international water event! 2019-11-01
From 31 Oct to 2 Nov 2019, the 8th International Water Association Asia Pacific Regional Group Conference and Exhibition (“Asia Pacific Water Conference”) was held in Hong Kong, where the Chief Executive Mrs. Carrie Lam delivered a welcome address at the opening ceremony and served as the officiating guest. At this conference, a team led by the Beijing Municipal Water Affairs Bureau, BEWG, Beijing Water Supply Group, and Beijing Drainage Group jointly participated in the exhibition. The 4 water companies in Beijing jointly participated in the international event for the first time, which became a highlight of the conference. Mr. Lam cordially met the representative from Beijing.
The Asia-Pacific Water Conference is an international flagship event held biannually by the International Water Association (IWA), as one of the most influential professional events in the water industry in the Asia-Pacific region. The International Water Association is the world's highest academic organization in the field of water environment and has a great influence worldwide.
The theme of this conference is "Smart Solutions for Water Resilience", focusing on multiple topics such as water supply, sewage, and comprehensive water resources management, paying the most attention to building resilient water environments for large cities with smart and innovative solutions. At this conference, Dr. YANG Guang, senior vice president of BEWG; Dr. LIU Weiyan, director of BEWG; and Dr. XUE Xiaofei, vice president of BEWG Water Environment Research Institute, were invited to deliver speeches in the main and sub-forums.
At the opening ceremony, Mrs. Carrie Lam gave a warm welcome to experts and business representatives from all over the world. She pointed out that water resources are extremely precious and we should continue to innovate and develop water resources technologies to improve the efficiency of water use and the resilience of the water environment system. The organizer and other relevant personnel kicked off the opening.
At the Asia Pacific Water Leaders Forum held on the morning of 1 Nov 2019, Dr. YANG Guang, Senior Vice President of BEWG, made a speech on "Exploration and Practice of BEWG Resilience Water Resources System" around the theme of the forum. After analyzing the severe external environment faced by China's water resources, he pointed out that we should make efforts in improving the comprehensive service capacity of water affairs and water environment, building a renewable, recyclable, sustainable, and resilient water environment system, and promoting the integration of recycled water systems into production and life. For example, the Yuhangtang River Basin water environment comprehensive governance PPP project led by water control presents the integration of water resources into production, life and ecology. In addition, the zero-emission project in the Blue Industrial Park, which is the responsibility of BEWG ecological partner-- Green Tech (金科环境), is also an example of water recycling.
Dr. LIU Weiyan and Dr. XUE Xiaofei also delivered speeches in the sub-forums on behalf of BEWG respectively. LIU Weiyan focused on smart water and pointed out that water companies are facing digital challenges. In order to meet the new requirements of corporate development in multiple fields, smart water has become a necessary path of corporate upgrading. She focused on the BEWG practices of “1+N” operation and management model, BECloud™ smart cloud platform, digital twins and other smart water services, and took Cases such as water management platform are explained.
Xue Xiaofei shared the thinking and practice of BEWG in the comprehensive treatment of water environment. He said that the Heshan project is guided by BEWG’s unique "8+7+9" technical framework system, to fully Implement the smart water management platform built in the substance of "river chief system", the project has become a representative case of urban /rural water environment comprehensive treatment with Southernmost Chinese characteristics.
During the exhibition, the four booths jointly participated in the exhibition with the theme of "Better Living Environment", showing the forward-looking leadership and water control results of the 4 entities in the comprehensive treatment of water affairs and water environment from different dimensions. In recent years, BEWG has fully responded to the national strategy and has in-depth layout of water control highlands, skillfully governed water in the "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development", "Yangtze River Delta Integration", "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area", "Yangtze River Protection", and "Belt and Road", among other "three areas and two belts" key areas, deepened the vivid practice of the "gold and silver mountains theory", and made every effort to promote ecological civilization to achieve effects and fruitful results.
