The Award of “Oscar in the Garden Field” Unveiled and BEWG Honorarily Crowned! 2021-11-16
On November 15, the final of the 12th Yuanye Awards for Students ended; the competition selected 5 municipal awards and 1 special award of rural revitalization. BEWG selected typical projects in four areas in the east, the west, the south and the north to participate in the competition. Through strict appraisal of domestic and foreign expert group for months, it finally stood out among over 1300 participating projects of over 300 enterprises, and won 1 award, 2 silver awards and 1 bronze award, which fully showed technical strengths and design level of BEWG.
On the contest of municipal garden award, the PPP project of the comprehensive governance project in the Xinfeng River watershed, Daxing District, Beijing, stood out and won the award through its “five-in-one” system design plan of “water safety, water environment, water resource, water ecology and water governance” and the scientific and advanced governance paths; it became the only “award” winner of the water ecology and water landscape type of municipal garden of the 12th Yuanye Cup. It appeared on the supreme podium of landscape architecture along with international famous projects, such as the terminal landscape project of Beijing Daxing International Airport. Liao Qiulin, the expert judge and vice professor of Department of Landscape Architecture in Central South University of Forestry and Technology indicated, “It realized overall quality improvement of the ecological system though optimized design and long-acting operation and maintenance, and finally achieved the goal of water governance.”

Event introduction
Set up in 2010, Yuanye Awards for Students targets at professional design enterprises, including architecture, planning, landscape and environmental art, as well as universities at home and abroad. It aims to create the most ideological and influential industrial competition, explore and commend excellent development, design and construction works, improve the creativity and influence of global designers and promote the international exchange and development of the industry. Since its implementation, the activity has attracted various real estate developers, famous professional design and construction enterprises of architecture, landscape and planning at home and abroad. It has become one of the international events with the widest participation, the most participators and the biggest scale.

The municipal garden award: the Xinfeng River project, a watershed guardian practicing the idea of ecological civilization
The PPP project of the comprehensive governance project in the Xinfeng River watershed, Daxing District, Beijing (hereinafter referred to as “Xinfeng River project”) is located at the north of Daxing District, Beijing; it is the main component of “three water rings” of “three water rings surrounding Beijing” in Beijing; it is an important ecological corridor that connects Daxing District, Beijing Yizhuang Economic and Technological Development Zone and Tongzhou sub-center.
The project contains construction contents, such as flood prevention treatment, water pollution prevention and treatment, utilization of reclaimed water, ecological repair and ecological corridor. It adopted the “five-in-one” system design plan of “water safety, water environment, water resource, water ecology and water governance”, practiced ecological civilization ideas and set up the general control management platform that centered on the watershed water environment model. It provided great support for establishing a long-acting intelligent control mechanism of the watershed, connected the riverways in the entire watershed and met the standard of water quality. Meanwhile, the project effectively made use of reclaimed water and architectural waste materials, presents cultural characteristics of Daxing District and Xinfeng River watershed in a landscape way, and truly achieved clear water, energy conservation and carbon reduction. It has made positive contributions and salutary explorations for the capital to fight in the pollution prevention and treatment battle and boost the construction of ecological civilization.
The Xinfeng River project was rated as the “beautiful rivers and lakes in Beijing in 2020”, selected into the list of typical cases of the green government and social capital cooperation (PPP) project, and regarded by the official Weibo of the Ministry of Ecological Environment as the excellent case report.
The silver award of water ecology and water landscape of municipal garden: Yuzixi project, a high-quality, ecological and green urban living room
The PPP project of flood prevention renovation of Yuzixi riverway, the tributary of the Yangtze River in Luzhou and the supporting engineering (hereinafter referred to the “Yuzixi Project”) is located at the core section of the high-tech zone in Luzhou City, with the total area of around 1300mu. Among them, through a series of improvements, such as river-lake separation, riverway renovation, sponge city construction, water ecology repair and landscape greening, the lake area of Yuzixi ecological park has effectively improved the quality of the water environment, restored and maintained natural connections of river and lake systems, and constructed the benign water-circulating system of the city.
The Yuzixi project has created a good core environment of the new city. By combining the urban planning, it has optimized the functional structure of the urban public space, beautified the urban ecological environment, endowed the urban cultural connotation, and created an “innovative, elegant, intelligent and high-yield” high-tech zone of Luzhou. It has improved the attractiveness of the high-tech zone of Luzhou and attracted more enterprises and talents. While serving as the image card of the new area, the ecological construction of Yuzixi is also Luzhou’s important demonstration of the guided development of the ecological environment.
The silver award of parks of municipal garden: the leisurely park Mount Phoenix, creating the sharing habitat for people and the nature
The renovation engineering project of the leisurely park Mount Phoenix is located at the south of Yuhang District, Zhejiang Province; it is an important park of the green corridor of the future technological city. With Mount Phoenix as the center, the project adheres to the characteristics of “natural source-tracing and demand overlapping”, and conducts ecological repair of the mountain environment of Mount Phoenix. It reserves the landform of the original mountain forest, sticks to the design idea of one creek and two banks, production-life-ecology integration and “suitable for life, industry, culture and amusement” and adheres to the core strategy of “rebirth - the beauty of the nature, reappearance - the historical appearance, rebuilding - the urban renewal”. In addition, according to the idea of the “people-oriented” urban forest park, depending on the natural style base, it integrates multiple forms, such as stone forest, valley, bamboo forest and sea of flowers, builds Mount Phoenix into the sharing habitat between people and the nature, and an open urban mountain park integrating ecology, culture, leisure, tourism and fitness.
The bronze award of exhibition parks of municipal garden: the Intelligent Water Display Center of Pengjiang, a pioneer of environment-friendly education
The Intelligent Water Display Center of Pengjiang is located at the upper stream of Tianhe River, Pengjiang District, Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, which is close to Guangdong Zhuxi International Convention&Exhibition Center and Sports Center. It is the concentrated display area of the water control idea and advanced technologies of Pengjiang’s water control project.
The Intelligent Water Display Center of Pengjiang covers one hall (the intelligent water exhibition hall) + 1 garden (outdoor exhibition garden), with the floor area of around 1000㎡. Among them, the architectural design of the exhibition hall extracts the cultural element of the dragon boat theme and shows the lofty spirits. Through the design of the open space, it creates indoor and outdoor interactive experience, maximizes the architecture’s publicity, blurs the border between the architecture and the surrounding environment, and is fully integrated with urban residents’ amusement experience. It has become the “new card of ecological city” of Pengjiang District Government in Jiangmen City, the “new model of project cases” of the water control ecological protection project, and the “new platform of environment-friendly education” in the national water environment-friendly field.
