As we all know, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is narrow and densely populated, and the increasing waste has brought great pressure to Hong Kong’s waste disposal. Some of the waste is directly dumped on the sea and beaches, and some are blown into the sea by wind. At the same time, with the increase of ships arriving at the port every year, ship surface accidents occur from time to time, resulting in the leakage of oil and dangerous substances at sea. These problems always threaten the marine environment of Hong Kong.

In terms of offshore operations, BEWG Jiafa Group has actively used high-tech means and equipment.According to the prediction of the World Ocean Summit, the total weight of global marine plastic waste may exceed the total weight of fish by 2050. As a new pollutant, microplastics has become a major global environmental problem juxtaposed with climate change. In order to break through the shortcomings of traditional means in cleaning plastic particles, BEWG Jiafa Group introduced the patented technology of collecting marine trace waste---mini multi-functional cleaning ship in 2021 through cooperative design and research, which can collect both oil pollutant and small floating garbage. The micro floating waste on the ocean is brought into the mini ship collection system with the water flow. The negative pressure of the system separates the micro debris from the water and disposes it in a centralized manner, which greatly improves the efficiency of ocean cleaning and reduces the impact of plastic waste on the marine ecosystem.
In order to improve the garbage collection capacity in shallow and narrow sea areas, this year, BEWG Jiafa Group has introduced the “dual-mode intelligent marine garbage cleaning robot” developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which can make the garbage in shallow and narrow sea areas have nowhere to “hide” through manned or remote operation and control, greatly improving the garbage collection efficiency in sea areas, and better guarding Hong Kong’s marine environment and serving Hong Kong citizens.
