Jinan Zhongkecheng and Heze No.1 Wastewater Treatment Plant Re-Selected into the 2026 List of Ecological and Environmental Volunteer Service Sites for "Beautiful China, Volunteers in Action" 2026-09-04

On August 31, during China’s first National Ecological and Environmental Volunteer Service Month, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment released the 2026 List of Ecological and Environmental Volunteer Service Sites for "Beautiful China, Volunteers in Action". A total of 173 sites nationwide were collected for this list. It aims to match supply and demand for ecological and environmental volunteer services and create opportunities for public participation in the construction of a Beautiful China. Jinan Zhongkecheng Water Purification Co., Ltd. and Heze No.1 Wastewater Treatment Plant, both affiliates of BEWG, were selected for their outstanding performance in opening environmental facilities, ecological science popularization education and volunteer service practices. Both projects were shortlisted in the first batch of the list in 2025 and have made the list once again this year.

Jinan Zhongkecheng Water Purification Co., Ltd. is located in the northwest of Xujia Village, High-tech Zone. Constructed, operated and managed by BEWG Group under the BOT model, it mainly treats wastewater from the central area of the High-tech Zone. Covering an area of 60 mu, the plant has a total treatment capacity of 90,000 tons per day. The company consistently advocates the socialist ecological civilization philosophy and continuously strengthens ecological civilization publicity and education. To date, it has received nearly 3,000 visitors including students from universities, middle and primary schools as well as social groups for site visits and learning, achieving remarkable results in environmental publicity and education.

Heze No.1 Wastewater Treatment Plant is situated in the eastern suburbs of Heze on the south bank of the Zhushui River. It occupies 134 mu with a designed total treatment capacity of 160,000 m³/d. Its effluent quality meets Grade A standard specified in Discharge Standard of Water Pollutants for Urban Wastewater Treatment Plants (DB37 4809-2025). The plant is mainly responsible for domestic sewage from the urban built-up area, serving the zone between Kunming Road and Jinan Road, and between Kangzhuang Road and Wanfu River, with a service population of approximately 600,000. The plant has been listed on the 4th "Double-Hundred Leap" Star Benchmark List for Wastewater Treatment Plants and included in the second national batch of "Green and Low-Carbon Benchmark Wastewater Treatment Plants". Its operational performance and capability for collaborative pollution reduction and carbon abatement rank among the top tier of the national industry.

Going forward, the two projects will fully leverage their exemplary role as ecological and environmental volunteer service sites and further deepen environmental publicity and education. By regularly hosting open-house days, ecological science popularization classes, parent-child practical activities and other events, the projects will further narrow the gap between the public and environmental protection. The plants will be built into key platforms to disseminate water conservation concepts and mobilize social forces to engage in ecological practices, contributing BEWG’s strength to building a Beautiful China and advancing the modernization of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.
