BEWG officially released AQENT™ NEwater brand! 2018-11-20
On 16 Nov 2018, the International Symposium on the Efficient Utilization of NEwater and Water Resources was held in Beijing. This symposium was hosted by Tsinghua University-BEWG Environmental Industry Joint Research Institute. The symposium actively explored the path of scientific and technological innovation to deal with the water crisis, with the aim to promote the upgrading and development of related industries such as the reuse of high-quality reclaimed water (i.e. NEwater) and zero discharge. At the meeting, BEWG released the AQENT™ NEwater brand.
This meeting was jointly organized by the School of Environment of Tsinghua University and BEWG. More than 200 government officials, industry experts, financial investment institutions, water environmental protection companies, and authoritative media gathered at Tsinghua University for in-depth discussions.
China's per capita water resources are only 30% of the world level, and most areas are short of water or severely short of water. In recent years, with the deepening urbanization, the demand for water resources has increased, and at the same brought more serious water environment pollution. How to efficiently develop and utilize water resources and protect the water environment has become a common challenge to the entire society. In order to actively promote the in-depth thinking of the industry and academia on China’s water dilemma, and to explore new models and new ideas for the development and utilization of reclaimed water- NE water, this meeting is at the right time.
This meeting was addressed by LIU Shuming, Deputy Dean of the School of Environment of Tsinghua University, and LI Yongcheng, Vice Chairman and Executive Deputy GM of BEG, and Chairman of BEWG.
LIU Shuming extended a warm welcome to the guests in his speech, and hoped that this meeting could better promote the research and application of advanced sewage treatment and high-quality reuse at home and abroad, and promote the reuse and zero discharge of high-quality reclaimed water (i.e. NEwater), as well as upgrading and development of related industries.
LI Yongcheng said in his speech that BEWG has experienced ten years of expansion, firmly seized the opportunity of rapid development of China's economy, and has become a leading enterprise in the water industry. Standing at the "leading position" of the ten-year development and looking at the next ten-year development plan, "the efficient use of NEwater and water resources" will become an important development direction of BEWG. Facing this forward-looking proposition, BEWG will adopt an open and integrated mentality, learn advanced experience from all walks of life and countries, continue to strengthen scientific research investment, and rely on leading technical and professional levels to make due contributions to efficient development of water recycling and utilization. .
YANG Guang, Senior Vice President of BEWG, said in a speech on "BEWG Water Resources and NEwater Development Strategy" that China is currently facing a serious water resource crisis. With the rising water demand of the whole society, with the deteriorating water cycle, traditional solutions have been difficult to meet the needs of the current rapid economic development. BEWG is eager for the national urgency, and through continuous investment in scientific and technological research and development, we lead the technological innovation of reclaimed water- NEwater, and through the development of NEwater business, we provide solutions to the water dilemma faced by the nation and the society, by connecting the last link in the social water cycle.
At the meeting, BEWG officially released the NEwater AQENT™ technology brand. The concept of the NEwater AQENT™ technology brand aims to solve the problems of efficient development and recycling of water resources, and provide domestic and foreign customers with investment, financing, design, construction and even operation among other professional services for the entire life cycle of the project. It adopts advanced independent core technology, and the produced water has undergone as many as 189 tests. The water quality is much better than the standard requirements of the World Health Organization, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and China for drinking water, and can meet most industrial production needs. At present, the brand concept of AQENT™ technology has been successfully implemented in the BEWG Changi Water Reclamation Plant Phase 2 Project, and has been highly recognized by the Singaporean government. In the future, in terms of water recycling and regeneration, BEWG will still take symbiosis, mutual growth, and regeneration as our strategic positioning, unite the power of industry and academia, and make continuous efforts to create a water recycling ecosystem.
This meeting specially invited LIANG Junhui, Director of Water Reclamation (Network) Department & Director of China Region of PUB, Singapore. He shared relevant experience in Singapore’s sewage and NEwater management, and said that Singapore will invest more R&D capabilities in the sustainable production of NEwater. Lack of water resources has always been a major factor restricting Singapore’s social and economic development. In order to get rid of the water dilemma, Singapore has been actively exploring ways to solve future water problems. One of Singapore's largest new water plants, Changi Water Reclamation Plant Phase 2, was built by BEWG. After half a century of hard work, Singapore has become a leader in the NEwater sector.
