10th Anniversary -- BEWG First “Evergreen Cup” Workers Skills Competition 2018-11-23
From 20 to 21 Nov 2018, sponsored by the Group Trade Union, Group Office, HR Center, Operations Management Center, and Quality Safety Center, and undertaken by the South Region, BEWG’s First “Evergreen Cup” Workers Skills Competition & 10th Anniversary Celebration was held at BEWG Guigang Branch of South Region.
HUANG Hanyang, Vice Chairman of the Guigang CPPCC and Chairman of the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions; ZHENG Jiarong, Secretary-General of Guangxi Water Supply and Drainage Association; LIANG Xiuzhi, Deputy Director of Guigang Municipal Administration; HUANG Jianji, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Guigang Federation of Trade Unions; LI Xinhe, Deputy GM of Guigang Transportation Investment Development Group Co., Ltd.; HUANG Yao, Director of Public Office of Guigang Municipal Administration; JIN Feng, Vice President and Party Secretary of BEWG; CHEN Gang, Vice Chairman of Trade Union of BEGCL; and ZHANG Tiefu, Vice President of BEWG and Chairman of Trade Union; LI Ai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee of BEWG; LU Qi, Director of BEWG; LIU Weiyan, Director of BEWG; JIAN Chang, Assistant President of BEWG, GM of South Region; two review experts from Beijing Urban Drainage Monitoring General Station, Group functional leaders, workers, and players among other over 130 persons participated in the competition.
At the launching ceremony of the competition, HUANG Jianji, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Guigang Federation of Trade Unions, and JINFeng, Vice President of BEGCL and Secretary of the Party Committee of BEWG, congratulated the "Evergreen Cup" Workers Skills Competition of BEWG, and fully affirmed the new measures of BEWG in “encouraging front-line workers to gain a foothold, study on business, improve skills, and build a high-quality skilled talent team”, and pointed out that the this skills competition will greatly arouse the enthusiasm of all BEWG workers to learn technology, study on business and strengthen their skills.
The first "Evergreen Cup" Workers Skills Competition has set up 3 theoretical tests and practical competitions: water supply pipeline network leak detection, sewage water quality test, and limited space operation. 40 players from the 5 regions competed on the same stage, showing their skills and operations. The process is compliant and orderly, fully embodies the sense of collaboration, safety, and endeavor: not shy, brave to compete, not left behind. In the water supply pipeline network leak detection competition, players LI Ti and LIU Xiaojie from East Region own the first prize; players LI Weijie and WU Shunxiong from South Region won the second prize; and players ZHANG Huasong and GU Jun from West Region won the third prize. In the sewage water quality test competition, player YANG Cui from West Region won the first personal prize, player LI Yaqing from North Region won the second personal prize, and player ZHU Feng from East Region won third personal prize; players YANG Cui and QUAN Weijuan from West Region won the first prize, players CAI Mei and ZOU Cunjuan from South Region won the second prize, players TANG Xiuping and ZHU Feng from East Region won the third team prize. In the limited space operation competition, WANG Jingsong, ZHANG Peng, CHEN Xiangzheng, SONG Liancheng from East Region won the first prize, WANG Jiuqiang, YANG Zhihui, ZHANG Ligang, and YANG Junjian from North Region won the second prize, LIANG Dongyin, ZOU Jun, ZHOU Yanwu, and ZHANG Hu from Central Region won the third prize; East Region recorded the highest total scores, and thus won the team excellence prize, while South Region won the excellent organization prize.
During the water supply pipeline network leak detection competition, the players from South Region and West Region found a pipeline that was not marked in the municipal pipeline network at a stage next to the competition pipeline within the 30-minute tight competition time limit, and detected one leak. According to calculations, it could reduce the water leakage by about 10 m3 per hour, which is equivalent to about 90,000 m3 per year, which could increase the income of Guigang Branch by RMB250,000. After research by the organizing committee and approved by the leaders of the Group, a special contribution award for leakage control was added, which was awarded to four players from South Region and West Region.
After the competition, all players took part in a walking activity along the hiking trails in the Garden Expo Garden of Guigang City. On the way, everyone took big steps, and talked while walking. While enjoying the beautiful scenery, they also felt the joy of walking. During the period, they also played funny games, like "Pass and Perfect" and "Take and Stable" in groups. The event fulfilled the mission of “protecting the source of life and creating a green environment” of BEWG with practical actions, and also enhanced mutual understanding among various business units, strengthened the cohesion and centripetal force of the Group, and delivered full positive energy.
During the event, leaders and guests also visited Guigang Longbedjing Water Plant, Chengxi Sewage Treatment Plant, environmental protection power plant and other business units.
The “Nineteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China” raised “establishing and implementing a lifelong vocational skills training system to promote the quality and skill improvement of all workers” as a major national policy, advocating “workmanship spirit” as the main theme of the society, and “learning hard and diligently studying on technology” has become the pursuit of workers in the new era. This is also the talent development strategy of BEG. At the 2017 BWG Advanced Commendation Meeting, Chairman TIAN Zhenqing put forward the requirements to “focus on the development of talent teams, promoting the spirit of model workers and workmanship, and give full play to the main force of vast workers”. we are attentively building a team of high-quality, capable and innovative industrial workers to achieve the goal of corporate economic transformation and upgrading and high-quality development.
This competition not only showcases the professional skills of BEWG's frontline workers, but also serves as an important competition for BEWG to shape the workmanship of employees, implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC with practical actions, and improve the comprehensive capabilities of BEWG staff. In the future, the Group will make the "Evergreen Cup" Workers Skills Competition a dazzling symbol of BEWG, leading the new ideas for the construction of employee’s skills and corporate culture of BEWG, which will definitely bring with new situation for the Group’s work and promote the ever-lasting foundation of BEWG.
