BEWG at the 14th International Conference on China Urban Water Development 2019-11-29

From 26 to 27 Nov 2019, the 14th International Conference on China Urban Water Development and Expo of New Technologies and Facilities hosted by China Urban Science Research Association and Suzhou Municipal People's Government was held in Suzhou, Oriental Water City. With the theme of "Tackling Water Pollution Prevention and Accelerating Water Ecological Restoration", this conference gathered more than 1,000 industry elites, including domestic and foreign academicians, well-known experts in the industry, leaders of environmental companies, and city managers, to conduct in-depth discussions and exchanges focusing on urban water development and reform, sponge cities construction, urban smart water services, and black and smelly water remediation, comprehensively interpret key difficulties in water pollution prevention and control and water ecological restoration, promote efficient operation of urban water services, and promote green development and regional coordinated development. At the invitation of the conference, LI Li, Executive President of BEWG, and LIU Weiyan, Director of Operations, attended the meeting and delivered keynote speeches in the sub-forum.

In the "Urban Water Reform and Development Strategy" sub-forum, LI Li shared the project cooperation model in the water industry market and the company cooperation model in the capital market with the theme of "BEWG Cooperative Development and Innovation Practice". He pointed out that the cooperation between BEWG and Three Gorges Group is an upgrade of the business cooperation paradigm. With joint efforts to protect the Yangtze River, the two parties will focus on the regional and river basin levels and implement the city through the "asset management platform + operation management platform" architecture. The dual platform can not only solve the "pearl (urban water system)" problem, but also the "necklace (Yangtze river basin)" problem. He also introduced the different ways BEWG has played in the "regional cooperation": in Luoyang, "stock drives the increase, mechanism activates talents", and in Guigang, it is "deeply plowing the main business to realize the integration of supply and discharge, and comprehensively expand the derivative; in Heshan, it is "promoting regional value enhancement through project cooperation." Based on the concept of serving the city, the BEWG “regional cooperation” model builds a community of destiny with the regional ecological environment and various stakeholders through professional value contributions.

LI Li pointed out that the environmental industry has begun to transform from the competition of single enterprises to the competition of consortiums and ecosystems. BEWG actively advocates the ecological culture of coexistence, mutual growth and regeneration, and hopes to develop diversification in the industrial market and capital market with all industry partners, cooperate extensively to form a business ecosystem of “reshaping, integration, innovation, interconnection”, and seek mutual cooperation and win-win cooperation between companies, build an environmental ecosystem, and empower green waters and gold mountains.

At the "Urban Water Development Strategy and Operational Improvement" sub-forum, LIU Weiyan shared the topic of "Thinking and Practice on the BEWG Development Strategy and Operational Wisdom Upgrading". She started from the new requirements for smart operations raised by the strategic upgrade of BEWG, and from 6 aspects: smart operation management, smart process control, basic capability improvement, "integrated" operations, universal empowerment, and efficient overall guarantees, systematically explained and emphasized the upgrading of operational intelligence is the only way to achieve corporate strategic goals and sustainable water operations.

LIU Weiyan said that BEWG is actively exploring and practicing the development path of smart operation upgrading. At present, BEWG has already upgraded a number of projects and water plants into digital water plants for unattended management; BEWG’s “digital twin” technology with independent intellectual property rights has also been put into operation in some projects. BEG will use wisdom to build a large number of high-quality operation benchmark water plants, comprehensively promote the Group's transformation and development, and at the same time explore a win-win model for the industry, and promote the rapid transformation of the traditional water industry.

The "International Conference on China Urban Water Development" is the first international event in the field of water science and technology created in 2005 with the attention and support of relevant ministries, international organizations, scientific research institutions and water authorities at all levels in China. At present, the conference has become one of the academic and technical exchange summits with the highest academic level in China's water treatment industry, the largest number of participating companies, and the widest participation at home and abroad.
