The Peak of the Final! Champions of “BEWG Cup” 4th China “Internet+” Mass Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition of the Ecological Environment Announced 2021-12-06

On December 4, the final of the “BEWG Cup” 4^th China “Internet+” Mass Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition of the Ecological Environment with the theme of “Green Prospect · Intelligent Creation of the Future” was opened in the ancient city Xi’an. 32 innovative teams from universities, over 50 industry experts and over 100 contestants were gathered in Xi’an to fight for the national championship.

Opening ceremony

The opening ceremony was attended by Zhao Hualin, the original President of board of supervisors of a state-owned key large-scale enterprise, Wang Shusheng, President of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, Ren Hongqiang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of School of Environment, Nanjing University, Li Li, CEO of BEWG Group, Yu Liguo, rotating CEO of BEWG Group and President of Ecological Environment Industry-Education Alliance, 22 expert judges, over 40 guest tutors both on site and online.

On the opening ceremony, Zhao Hualin indicated, “To boost the transformation of the economic society to green development and low-carbon development is the only way of improving the Chinese environment and promoting ecological civilization construction; technological innovation and problem tackling of carbon neutralization is the source of vigor of ecological civilization. To strengthen systematic cultivation of talents of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality means a lot to the system’s implementation of pollution and carbon reduction and coordinated governance. We should exert the leading role of large-scale enterprises in the industry, take market demands as the orientation, promote the discipline reform development of institutions of higher learning, and optimize the environment of innovation and entrepreneurship.”

Wang Shusheng indicated that institutions of higher education should better combine the development of technology as the first productive force, the cultivation of talents as the first resource and the increase of innovation as the first momentum, and better serve reform and opening up, and socialist modernization; since its establishment, Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology had taken root in the west, set foot in industrial innovation and progress, and achieved a series of high-level research attainments in green innovation and energy conservation, ecological environment protection and circular economy. Moreover, the “BEWG Cup” Mass Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition had become the most influential industrial event in the ecological environment field and set up a broad stage for young students to strengthen wisdom and talent in innovation and entrepreneurship, and boost the transformation of competition results.

Li Li reviewed BEWG’s development road of innovation and entrepreneurship. In 2018, BEWG and Hebei University of Environmental Engineering set up the Ecological Environment Industry-Education Alliance along with industrial associations, backbone enterprises, institutions of higher learning, scientific research units. Since its establishment, it had absorbed 124 universities and 129 enterprise members, effectively set up the platform of exchange and resource sharing for ecological environment universities and environmental enterprises, and formed the comprehensive three-dimensional mode of “enterprises, universities, research, application, entrepreneurship and capital”; it had promoted four-chain links of talent, education, industry and innovation, and explored a sustainable transformation road of technological achievements in line with the actual conditions of ecological environment universities and environmental enterprises.

Since the launch, the 4^th China “Internet+” Mass Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition of the Ecological Environment had obtained great attention of the whole society and all industries. It attracted the enthusiastic participation of over 4140 innovation and entrepreneurship staffs from 744 projects of 246 universities in 28 provinces, cities and autonomous regions. Through heated competition of the final, 12 projects were selected into the championship scramble.

The peak of the final battle

In the championship scramble held on that afternoon, the project Golden Catcher - Recycling Expert of Precious Metals of Water Traces of Tongji University won the first place and achieved the entrepreneurship fund of RMB 100,000 yuan.

The project Monitoring Technology and Products of Rapid Water Quality Analysis of the Power-spectral Method Based on Large Energy Gap Semiconductor Photoelectric Device of Nanjing University and the project Creator of High-activity Processing of Industrial Circulating Water and Regeneration Cycle Utilization of Xi’an University of Architecture And Technology won the second place and achieved the entrepreneurship fund of RMB 50,000 yuan respectively.

The project Luheng Environmental Protection - Filter Membrane Water Purification Techology and Device of Ecological Villages and Towns of Harbin Institute of Technology, the project Thermophilic Glutton - Creating the New Era of Global Sludge and Solid Waste Recycling of Northeastern University, the project Provider of Unique Plans of Recycling of High Salinity Wastewater Membrane Method of University of Science and Technology of China won the third place and achieved the entrepreneurship fund of RMB 20,000 yuan respectively.

The competition’s organizer Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology and the co-sponsors, namely 15 universities, such as Harbin Institute of Technology, Tongji University, Nanjing University, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Qingdao University of Technology and Hebei University of Environmental Engineering won the “organization award of excellent universities”.

Mr. Ma Defu, Deputy Director of the competition’s expert committee, and expert of industry-education integration, innovation and entrepreneurship thought highly of the defense mien of all participating teams, innovation breakthrough of the competition agenda and system, the perfect and smooth organization process and significant effects of innovation and entrepreneurship practice.

The signing ceremony

Sticking to the running tenet of “starting from competition, more than competition”, the Mass Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition emphasized the post-competition cooperation connection and transformation of technological achievements. On the signing ceremony of MOU, BEWG Research Institute, Strategic Development Center and BEWG Education Center signed MOU with eight excellent projects respectively. Since then, both parties have formally started the cooperation, shared resources and empowered one another.

The closing ceremony

On the closing ceremony, Yu Liguo summarized three breakthroughs of the competition on behalf of the Committee of the Mass Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition:

Large in quantity. There were over 700,000 participants this time in the whole society, over 20 times that of the previous competition;

High quality. The quality of participating projects and the level of participating contestants were higher than that of the previous times;

New mode. Under the conditions of the normal prevention and control of the epidemic, it tried the “online + offline” competition mode for the first time and completely achieved anticipated effects.

Finally, Yu Liguo showed congratulations to all participating teams and sincere thanks to all universities, teams, experts and contestants that supported the competition.

Competition flag handover

At the end of the competition, representatives of the participating units stood on the stage with the school banner and jointly launched the competition flag handover ceremony. Professor Lu Jinsuo, President of School of Environmental And Municipal Engineering, Xi’an University of Architecture And Technology handed over the competition banner to the sponsor. Then Yu Liguo, the rotating CEO of the sponsor BEWG presented the flag to Academician Ren Hongqiang (online participation) from Nanjing University, symbolizing that Nanjing University will become the undertaking school of the “BEWG Cup” 5^th China “Internet+” Mass Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition of the Ecological Environment. The dream of intelligence ignites the creation passion; innovation and entrepreneurship jointly build ecological civilization. Under the objective of double carbons, technological innovation plays an important supporting role in the ecological civilization construction, realization of the double-carbon objective and high-quality development of the economic society of our country. The competition is used to discover excellent talents of innovation and entrepreneurship of ecological environment, and select high-quality innovation and entrepreneurship projects, which helps strengthen the influence of the Mass Entrepreneurship & Innovation Competition. In the future, BEWG will continue to organize various innovation and entrepreneurship resources of the ecological environment, set up the platform, perfect the service mechanism, and vigorously promote the transformation of technological achievements.
