BEWG Attends CUWA Annual Conference, Honored with "40th Anniversary • Outstanding Contribution Unit" Award 2025-04-23

From April 15th to 20th, the China Urban Water Supply and Drainage Association (CUWA) hosted its 2025 Annual Conference and Urban Water Technology & Product Exhibition in Hangzhou. At this critical juncture marking the conclusion of the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the planning of the "15th Five-Year Plan," the conference brought together government officials, senior executives from water utilities, and international technical experts to discuss urban water development strategies, cultivate new quality productive forces, and drive the industry toward high-quality development.

As a Vice President unit of CUWA and a supporting organization of the conference, BEWG attended the event, delivered keynote reports, and participated in panel forums. Representatives engaged in in-depth discussions on smart water management, industry development directions, and talent cultivation, building consensus for collaborative industry advancement.

In recognition of its outstanding contributions to the urban water sector, BEWG was honored with the "CUWA 40th Anniversary · Outstanding Contribution Unit" award. Group Executive President and CUWA Vice President Li Li, along with Vice President Liu Weiyan, received individual "Outstanding Contribution Awards."

Laying the Standard Foundation, Charting a New Smart Water Ecosystem

As the leading unit of CUWA's Smart Water Special Committee, BEWG has spearheaded the development of key smart water standards, systematically building a technical foundation for standardized industry development. This accelerates technological synergy and ecosystem collaboration, promoting the shift from "experience-driven" to "data-driven" processes across the water chain.

Liu Weiyan, Vice President of BEWG and Director of CUWA's Smart Water Special Committee, provided a detailed interpretation of the industry's first "Urban Smart Water Terminology" standard, led by BEWG. This standard offers authoritative definitions of key terms in urban smart water, clarifying long-standing ambiguities and establishing a unified, standardized linguistic framework for the entire smart water sector. This work is significant for advancing smart water standardization, facilitating communication and collaboration among different enterprises and institutions, and enhancing the overall development level of the industry.

During a roundtable dialogue on digital transformation for water enterprises, Liu Weiyan and several industry experts engaged in thorough discussions, sharing valuable experiences from the transformation process, analyzing challenges and pain points, and offering forward-looking perspectives on future directions.

Wang Li, General Manager of Hangzhou Beishui Yunfu Technology Co., Ltd. and Secretary-General of CUWA's Smart Water Committee, delivered a thematic report titled "On the Digital-Intelligent Trends in the Urban Water Industry." The report analyzed core issues in the digital-intelligent transformation of urban water and elaborated on the application directions of AI technology within the sector, providing valuable insights and references for industry development.

Li Xinwei from BEWG's Operations Service Center presented and interpreted the "Technical Standard for Online Information Collection in Urban Water Systems." This standard, led by BEWG, aims to promote its widespread application and implementation within the industry.

Innovation-Driven, Reshaping the New Landscape of Water Assets

Mao Jianhua, Vice President of BEWG and General Manager of Hangzhou Beishui Future Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote report titled "Sustainable Development and Specialized Transformation of Water Heavy Assets." He pointed out that heavy-asset investment in the water industry has now converged with infrastructure like urban roads and water conservancy projects, with its market-oriented attributes gradually diminishing. In this context, how asset-heavy enterprises can leverage their advantages to develop specialized capabilities and solve challenges has become a focal point for the industry.

BEWG leverages technology and model innovation as its core driving force. By establishing a cluster of specialized companies as asset-light business platforms, it continuously incubates technologies, products, and innovative entities, actively promoting corporate specialized transformation and secondary growth, thereby reshaping the landscape for heavy-asset development in the water industry.

Industry-Education Integration, Unleashing New Vitality in Industry Talent

Ji Guangpeng, General Manager of BEWG's Beishui Education Center, delivered a keynote speech titled "Practical Exploration of Integrating Industry and Education for Cultivating High-Quality, Interdisciplinary Talent in the Environmental Protection Industry." He shared BEWG's innovative practices and significant achievements in talent cultivation and industry-education integration.

In recent years, closely aligning with industry trends, BEWG has actively built a multi-level talent cultivation system, deeply integrating the talent chain with the industry chain, thereby providing solid innovative talent support for the high-quality development of the industry.

During the conference, BEWG also shared a case study on the comprehensive improvement of the Yuhao Tang River Basin water environment. This presentation fully demonstrated the Group's technical strength and outstanding contributions in leading industry standards and creating green, low-carbon benchmarks, offering a highly valuable practical example for the industry.
