Baotou Water Project Enters Commercial Operation Phase 2025-07-04

On June 30th, the downstream section of the Erdaosha River treatment project, part of the Baotou City Water Ecological Improvement Comprehensive Utilization PPP project undertaken by Baotou BEWG Environment Development Co., Ltd. , successfully passed the operational acceptance inspection organized by the Baotou Water Affairs Bureau. This marks the project's full entry into a new journey of commercial operation.

As a primary tributary of the main stream of the Yellow River, the Erdaosha River flows through Donghe District, the Rare-Earth High-Tech Zone, and Jiuyuan District. This river once played a vital role in drainage and irrigation, and its downstream estuary was the only sewage outfall from Baotou urban area into the Yellow River.

However, this former "urban artery" gradually deteriorated into a "sewage channel." As a key part of the Yellow River ecosystem, the ecological condition of the Erdaosha River is not only directly related to the health of the Yellow River but also serves as a crucial measure of Baotou's sustainable urban development and public well-being.

Systematically improving the Erdaosha River became a challenge that BEWG had to overcome in Baotou, and it is also a mission the company undertakes in the ecological protection and high-quality development process of the Yellow River Basin.

Since the Baotou water environment project was approved in 2017, the project team has upheld a strong sense of responsibility over the past eight years, firmly shouldering the task of systematic Erdaosha River management, viewing it as an essential undertaking for Yellow River Basin ecological protection. The team strictly adhered to design standards and fully advanced seven core projects, including water conservancy and flood control, water resource allocation, river and lake network connectivity, urban landscape water systems, and smart water management.

Facing numerous challenges such as construction in severe northern cold, complex river geological conditions, and multi-disciplinary crossover work, all project team members confronted the difficulties and bravely shouldered their responsibilities. From river channel remediation and embankment reinforcement to landscaping and water quality improvement, they applied a professional attitude and exquisite technical skills to forge the "North Control Quality" in ecological engineering construction.

The successful implementation of the Baotou water environment project has significantly enhanced Baotou's flood control standards and greatly improved the quality of the urban water system. The former appearance of the river channel has been transformed into a new look, becoming a good place for citizens' leisure and entertainment, continuously increasing their sense of happiness and fulfillment.

This successful acceptance is not only an important milestone for the Baotou water environment project construction but also a new starting point for BEWG's in-depth service to Baotou's ecological environment.

Relying on its extensive full-life-cycle operational management experience, BEWG will build a long-term mechanism of "smart monitoring + dynamic management," continuously optimize ecological governance and service efficiency, assist Baotou inadvancing steadily on the path of high-quality development, and contribute BEWG's strength to promoting Baotou's green, low-carbon, high-quality development.
