BEWG Collaborates with Industry to Explore New Directions for Smart Water Development 2025-09-17

From September 15 to 17, the 2025 Annual Conference of the Smart Water Professional Committee of the China Urban Water Supply and Drainage Association (CUWDA) & Urban Smart Water Forum, themed "Data-Driven · AI-Powered · Smart Water Future," was successfully held in Guilin, Guangxi. As the chairman unit of the Smart Water Professional Committee of CUWDA (hereinafter referred to as "CUWDA Smart Water Committee"), Beijing Enterprises Water Group (BEWG) undertook the conference. Zhang Linwei, President of CUWDA, Wang Zhupin, Rotating Executive President of BEWG, and Liu Weiyan, Jia Pixing, Vice Presidents of BEWG, attended the event. Gathering nearly 500 water industry experts and scholars, government officials, and enterprise representatives from across the country, the conference conducted in-depth exchanges on AI-enabled water industry development, smart water technology practices, and enterprise digital transformation. Participants shared outstanding experiences and practical achievements, offering suggestions to promote the high-quality development of the urban water industry.

Liu Weiyan delivered a report titled "AI Progress and Reflections in the Water Industry," reviewing the development history of artificial intelligence, national policies, and its applications in various industrial fields. She stated that AI technology is reshaping the development paradigm of the water industry, and industry transformation should be driven from four dimensions: top-level design, technological innovation, equipment upgrading, and scenario implementation. She emphasized that high-quality data, industry standards, control systems, model integration, and intelligent agents are the key directions for AI development in the sector.

Wang Li, General Manager of Hangzhou Beishui Cloud Services Technology Co., Ltd., hosted the parallel forum on "Smart Water Technology Applications." During the standard achievement release session, Li Xinwei, Director of the Operation Model Innovation Department of BEWG's Operation Service Center, promoted the CUWDA standard Terminology for Urban Smart Water compiled by BEWG.

Attaching great importance to the strategic direction of "AI + Business," BEWG, as the chairman unit of the CUWDA Smart Water Committee, will continue to cooperate with industry partners. With cutting-edge technologies such as AI as the core driving force, and relying on big data and large models, BEWG will further advance the digital transformation, green and low-carbon transition, and intelligent upgrading of water systems, building a more efficient, resilient, and sustainable modern water governance system.
